How to Increase Your Recycling Output

The Scottish reprocessing sector is expected to benefit from increased investment due to the new waste regulations that are scheduled to come into effect in 2014. These directions will impose a legal duty on every business to both segregate its recyclable waste and ensure that any food waste is separated from the rest of the material. The regulations are set to reduce the requirements for Scottish waste to be exported elsewhere, as the higher quality recycling resulting from the amendments will be of an increasing benefit to Scotland itself. The regulations are an integral piece of a larger plan that aims to see Scotland recycle as much as 70% of its waste by 2025, thereby becoming one of the most energy efficient European countries.

The head of Zero Waste in Scotland has said that it will be a missed opportunity if these more rigorous reprocessing guidelines don’t yield an opportunity to attract further investments for Scotland. Up to 750,000 tonnes of household waste is currently being transported out from Scotland every year, and the new regulations are intended to create an increased incentive to break that trend.

The Scottish waste management sector has welcomed the new rulings, expressing its desire that the new regulations should be well promoted to ensure that all businesses become aware of their increased obligations to recycle. Small businesses that were largely unaware of previous recycling principles form Zero Scotland’s primary target, with both a telemarketing campaign and a promotional materials range intended to better advertise the recycling agenda

With an increased quantity of recycling likely to be conducted by many Scottish businesses over the next few years, it’s important to ensure that all your waste is collected and dealt with in the most efficient way. Here at Buchanan Skip Hire, we know how much of a priority it is to recycle waste rather than having it disposing of in a landfill site, and currently a full 80% of the waste that we collect is successfully recycled. Our business has over 20 years experience, and supplies a full range of skips ranging from 2yd models right up to larger 40yd containers.
