What a fantastic year we had at Buchanan’s in 2022! We are so excited for all the new and upcoming changes that are on their way in 2023…
New Payment method
One of the first changes is that we are looking into expanding our online shop by adding a new payment method of checking out with Klarna – this allows our customers to “Buy Now Pay Later” or split payments into 3 and allows for flexibility, keep your eyes peeled for further updates.
AUDIT
In December 2022 we completed our ISO Audit and are happy to announce we have passed and are awaiting certification which will be uploaded on our site in due course.
The team supported each other through the audit and put in a lot of work, even though our next audit is a year away, we are consistently trying to keep on top of it and be prepared throughout the year, a little breather is definitely deserved though!
WE ARE HIRING
Buchanan’s are hiring for Yard Labourers to join our team! We are looking to add to our team of operatives who currently work on our trommel sorting machine.

VOLVO & LIEBHERR
Our 2023 is looking great – many new changes and new equipment! New VOLVO trucks are due March/April, a 18T Skip Loader FMX & 32T Hook Loader FMX, these trucks allow the rearmost drive axle on the tandem bogie to be disengaged and raised, to reduce fuel consumption.
Sticking to a tried and tested ‘one driver; one truck,’ policy John Cunningham (Transport Manager) reports positive feedback from colleagues with our previous trucks. “Our drivers like the new Volvos. The FEs on our fleet have manual gearboxes, but the FMX with the I-Shift transmission will be interesting to monitor. We use Volvo’s Dynafleet Fleet Management System to monitor performance levels, which have so far been great.” With the great feedback we were more than happy to renew our fleet of trucks.
Buchanan Skip Hire also welcomed a new machine to the family in 2022, the Liebherr T55-7 Telescopic Handler. The Liebherr telescopic handler is a powerful universal machine.
It has powerful operating hydraulics to allow large amounts of material to be moved and stock piled to the maximum height and it can lift up to 5,500KG!
This has really improved efficiency in the yard and has allowed us to move materials faster and clear the pile with zero problems.
WEIGHBRIDGE
This month, we got our weighbridge calibrated from AVERY – This weighbridge was upgraded in 2019 for the BridgeMont BMS 15M model, it’s top class & extra long to allow for our walking floor trailers to be weighed. The weighbridge can be customised with several hardware options such as remote displays, loop detectors, ID readers, ANPR, traffic lights and wireless communication.
BMS-T weighbridge utilises steel construction and either industry leading T series load cells or 34t Weigh Bars for outstanding strength and reliability.
